Wayne asks…
how to become a personal life coach in Canada?
I would like to hear a suggestion for where to go. Thank you!

There are quite a few online associations/schools for people to become a life coach all around the world. The most well known one is ICF (International Coaches Federation) Many of the schools online that offer coaching classes are charging anywhere from 5,000 CA to 20,000 CA…it can be kind of frustrating as there is no government funding for these ‘type’ of courses.
In Canada, the only coaching course that I was able to come across that gave you hands on experience, and you were able to go to an actual class is the one put on by the Certified Coaches Federation (I’ll leave you the link below) The cost of the weekend excursion was 895 for the course. It is a two day training, where you learn to do coaching from an NLP standpoint. I found the course was very informative for coaching, however, the marketing/starting your own business aspect of it was lacking (however, I have been able to learn so much on my own in the past three years that it doesn’t bother me at all anymore)
Currently, there are no restrictions on who can be a life coach. Unlike a medical doctor, or dentist, you can practice coaching without a certificate (but if you’re not good you won’t have clients) The whole point behind the certificate is to make you look legit (because anyone can throw a web page online and claim that they are a coach)

Alana asks…
Would you ever hire a Personal or Life Coach?
To assist you in moving forward with various issues/areas in your life. I’m not talking about a Psychologist or Councelor.

admin answers:
I think this is a GOOD idea. Having another persons perspective is very helpful IF YOU WILL LISTEN.
No coach/ psy/ counc will help if you do not take thier advise.
We all are comfortable in our old ways.. And uncomfortable changing or moving in a different direction.
Good luck

Chris asks…
How can I become a personal trainer and life coach?
I recently lost 80 lbs and I am trying to get my sister in shape I realized in doing so how much I love helping other people as well as myself loose weight, eat healthy, and be happy with myself. I’m 21 years old with a daughter, and l’ve never really had any hobbies or anything that I really loved to do, besides this.

I am a senior in highschool right now and I feel the same way. I know that different places will require different certifications. For example if you wanted to work at the YMCA, you would have to take their class. You might also need to obtain a degree. I have seen certain places require a degree in kinesiology. If all goes well I’ll get mine after college.
So just look around and see where you want to work. They’ll tell you what you need to do.

Elizabeth asks…
i need motivation, and some advice, is there such a thing as a cyber life coach or a cyber personal trainer?
i am a gwm, i live in NC , i need someone that i can chat with and help with motivation, i live with a roommate that doesn’t care that much about working out and it leaves me having to have will power, but it would be nice to have that someone you can ask for advice and not be judged, so i was just wondering if anyone on here
knows of a cyber Personal life coach or cyber Personal trainer. and thanks for all of the great answers i have received, and this is a great way to make friends also, so thank you
